Rev. Robert L. China, Jr.
Pastor
Rev. Robert L. China is the son of the Late Robert L. China Sr. and Thelma Franklin China. He is married to the former Gail E. June. Rev. China received his formal education in the public schools of Sumter School District Seventeen in Sumter, South Carolina. He received his technical education from Sumter Technical College (Associate degree Air Conditioning and Refrigeration) and Columbia Technical College (Associate degree Radio and TV Repair.)
Rev. China preached his initial sermon the first Sunday in September 1976. In 1976. He entered Morris College in Sumter South Carolina pursuing a Bachelor of Theology Degree. He worked diligently to keep his academic grade point average high. In 1978 He was given his fist pastoral assignment, to serve as pastor of St. John AME Church in Winnsboro, South Carolina, where he served faithfully for four years. He continued to work hard and graduated from Morris College as Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Theology degree in 1981. In 1982 He received his assignment to serve the parishioners at Emmanuel AME Church in Columbia, South Carolina as pastor. He served Emmanuel faithfully and earnestly (12 years) until 1994. In 1994 he received the appointment to pastor Spring Hill AME Church in Gilbert/Lexington, South Carolina, where he has served diligently for the past fourteen years.
Rev. Robert China was the first African American to serve as President of the Lexington Medical Center’s Associate Chaplains Association (He continues to serve faithfully as a volunteer Chaplin). Recently he was chosen to work on the Lexington Medical Center’s Special Care Team. He has served as president of the Lexington Ministerial Alliance and was the founder of the Lexington Martin Luther King Celebration.
He has earned certificates of completion from the Institute of Church Administration and Management (ICAM) and Pastoral Care Specialist Training at Palmetto Baptist.
Rev. and Mrs. China have been blessed with four sons (Lamont, Reggie, Cliffton, Quentin), Five daughters (Paula, Yolanda, Shauntae, Tosha and Kimberly), and seven grandchildren (Dymond, Reginald Jr., Alexander, Knyla, Denea, Beyonca, and Kaley)

Upon joining the military he continued to serve as youth dirctor under the leadership of Chaplin Rasado at Wood Memorial Chapel in Ft. Bragg North Carolina. After completing his military career and returning back to South Carolina, he returned to Spring Hill AME church where he now serves as co-teacher of the youth bible study class and works with various choirs.
Sis. Monica De Vault She has served under various offices at 1st A.M.E. (Fairbanks, Alaska) such as the Stewarts Board, Sunday School Superintendent, Minister of Music, and various other postions.
She joined Spring Hill A.M.E. Church in May 31st where she now serves as co-teacher for the youth bible study group and works with various choirs.
